A New Idea in Classroom Planning

Planning has always been up to classroom teachers. Teachers decide what students are going to learn and how they are going to do it. I'd like to try something new and different. I'd like your ideas. Do have suggestions for assignments and projects? Do you have a resource that you think we should be using in class? Is there someone we absolutely need to talk to? Post it here! This space is for all of us to put our heads together and create the best possible space to learn in that we can. Anything goes. This is a brainstorming space, a planning space, a space for new ideas so anything you can think of can be posted here.

Who are you?

This place is open to any and all takers. It doesn't matter if you are a student in my class, a parent, a teacher, a student from another school or country, or someone who has just managed to stumble into this space; you can post your ideas here as well. A network of minds can together come up with many more ideas then anyone can alone.

How Will This Be Done?

I'd like to post topics (and often outcomes) that are required by the province of Manitoba in this space. Then using these as a starting point, we can together come up with ideas for assignments and projects that we can work on in the classroom. Being the teacher and the person who in the end is responsible for what happens in the classroom I get the final say about assignments and projects that are undertaken, but I am definitely more then willing to listen to any ideas that are put forth in this space.

So login to a page that is open in the sidebar (right now I am looking for ideas for a unit on Feudal Europe that I am starting the school year with) and let us know your ideas!

No this is new this year. I had the kids blogging last year (which they are again this year) and I had a different wiki set up here: http://studyingsocietiesatjhk.pbwiki.com/ which we will be adding on to this year. This is new and I hope helpful.

I'm a middle school teacher in Brooklyn, NY. I'm going to start a wiki with my 8th grade students. I need some advice from some wiki experts like you. I have grouped students together to answer some questions for me about wikipedia. When posting their results, do you suggest that each group gets their own page on the wiki? How many can actually edit one page when their all together? How does this work? Help Help

PS PBwiki only offers 10mb of free space, clearly not enough for all 5 classes. I think wikispaces is the better alternative. Any thoughts or advice? Thanks for your time!
